Green-Ear brings DarkBASIC Professional integrated voice and text chat, voice morphing, private channels and more to its exciting release of the Green-Ear SDK.
The Green-Ear team wanted an alternative to the voice chat options currently available that were expensive and time consuming to integrate and often required server rental from the game players. That led them to the development of Green-Ear, the affordable easily integrated voice chat. Green-Ear simplifies the integration with minimal code and prices starting at just $49.99 for 10 voice slots.
All of the embedded features are included in the SDK as well as the source code to our library- so that you can customize it to suit your games' needs.
The players of your game access Green-Ear's hosted and maintained network through your acquisition of reserved slots on the network. You can grow your game as quickly or slowly as you need based on the activity of your game. Purchase Voice Slots in packs that grant players simultaneous access to the network.
"Today's games are becoming more and more about the social experience - Green-Ear's voice integration allows developers to capitalize on that and monetize their game easily and more affordably. - David Perry Chief Creative Officer, Acclaim Games, Inc."
"Thanks to Green-Ear, you can now tap into the power of a gaming server without any of the hassles or costs involved. Not only can you use it for voice communication, but you can send and receive text messages which means you have the potential to create game worlds populated by hundreds of players. I have often been asked how to create a MMORPG game in DBPro. From 2009, my response will be to buy Green-Ear and go for it! - Lee Bamber, CEO, TGC."
The Green-Ear SDK allows developers to easily integrate communication features into their DarkBASIC Professional based based game. Including:
- Voice Chat: Ability to start and stop audio stream and to connect and disconnect from various chat rooms.
- Text Chat: Allow players to send messages using only text in group or private channels.
- Voice Morphing: Players can morph their voice into several presets and adjust tone and pitch to their liking. Great feature for special effects or privacy concerns.
- Voice Fonts: Changing players voices entirely through text-to-speech. Users pick from male and female voices to mask their identity completely.
- Friends Lists: Provides notifications of friends' status in game or in channel, allows for messaging friends live or leave a message if they are away.
- Messaging: Users can leave messages on the server for a later date to be picked up at will by another party.
- Group and Private Channels: Frees players to communicate with all current players or those of your choosing, break off for a strategy session and rejoin to talk smack.
- Server Access: Green-Ear maintains and hosts the server, allowing developers to take the burden off their end user. Developers decide how much or how little access to the network their online community will need. Then, pay a one-time fee for groups of simultaneous players and get access for that number for the life of the title - no expirations, no scaling issues, no rental fees.
- Voice Slots: These are the groups of reserved slots on the network, estimate your online community and grow as needed.
- No Expiration: SDK's are available in Indie and Commercial licenses. Indie licenses stay with the developer for life, no expiration, no limitations. Commercial licenses are transferable within the corporation of purchase and have no expiration. Voice Slots are available in Packs of 25, 50, 100 and 500 and are good for the life of the title.
Firing up Green Ear for voice and text communication boils down to four simple calls:
gearState$ = GreenEarInitialize( "idle" ) gearState$ = GreenEarConnect( gearState$, studio$, gametitle$ ) gearState$ = GreenEarLogin( gearState$, username$, password$, newusermode, screenname$ ) gearState$ = GreenEarVoiceChat( gearState$, chatID$ )
Once you are connected to a game session, you can send text like this:
mymess$="hello world" GEAR SEND "tcts", chatID$, mymess$
Your game will also continually monitor for incoming text messages as follows:
while GEAR MESSAGE COUNT()>0 GET GEAR MESSAGE Cmd$ = GEAR MESSAGE COMMAND() if Cmd$="tctc" ReceiveText$=GEAR MESSAGE PARM(2) print ReceiveText$ endif endwhile
Finally, when you game session ends, simply close down your connection and you're done:
GEAR SEND "tcle", chatID$ gearState$ = GreenEarLeaveVoiceChat( gearState$, chatID$ ) gearState$ = GreenEarDisconnect( gearState$ ) gearState$ = GreenEarUnInitialize( gearState$ )
